Today was an epic day. House track and house softball finals. Although I came in dead last for the 800 m race, we still did very well in house track coming in the top 3 (unofficial). After school we played in the house softball finals but we lost 17-4. But enough with house sports, on to the larger topic.

I had to stay after school today to take and count votes for leaving class president of the graduating class during the graduating class dinner. Seeing how there were six of us, it didn’t take that long to do so we were able to stay and listen to most of the speakers and the performances. Nixon had a pretty funny speech. However, this reminded me that we only have a year left before graduation. JUST ONE MORE YEAR! Just thinking about it saddens me. No more peabs, everyone will be gone to America or some random suburban town or province. WE ONLY GOT ONE MORE YEAR >.<

On a different note, I have now learned how to play guitar hero using the controller. w00t!

LONG WEEKEND! GUESS WHAT I’M GONNA DO!

WORK!

Seriously, its going to be absolute doom. We got so much work to do this weekend in almost all my important subjects. 7 chem labs, 1 chem lab to design, 4 physics labs, physics test to study for Friday, math test Wednesday, TOK presentation Tuesday, english presentation Friday, and for everything else i have to study for exams. Its absolute death. If i were not a procrastinator and a good student, i should really only have about 4 chem labs including the design and no physics labs, but even without that its still ridiculous. I don’t understand how this is supposed to work. Review week is way to little time to actually do review. I say it should be to weeks for review, or at least the week before review week should have no testing or assigments for that week.  I mean seriously, how do they expect us to study for exams if we have all this crap to do. Like even if you’re organized and stuff like JLam over here, you have to completly cut your social life off in order to finish all of this stuff along with studying for exams. With this new policy, a student should be able to still go out and have fun but also have sufficient time to study. I’m still deciding if i should talk to an Mr. Cowie to get this done directly or to lombardo and have him do it. Either way, I do not want somthing like this to be repeated for the winter exams because those are even more important.

But yes that is my rant for the day. To end it off i have this to say

BRAWL = AWESOME

I WANT IT SO BAD >.<

This song is also very awesome. Tony however has absolutly know taste in music and thinks its gay.

THIS IS YOUR FRIEND ALFRED N!

So, I still don’t have any deep topic to talk about, but when I find one that hasn’t been talked about yet, i shall blog about it. FO SHO! Instead I shall talk about my day yesterday. It was pretty awesome. So yesterday was UCC MAY DAY and I was the MC for most of the day. Started up at 9 getting the whole PA system set up. BTW those circle tables from the student centre are a lot heavier than they look >.<. ANYWAYS, after we got the stuff set up I started to think of a good opening catch phrase. Then a LED fluorescent light bulb (just for you tree huggers out there) lit up in my brain. I came up with “THIS IS YOUR FRIEND ALFRED N!” and always ended off my comments with “YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE” as i had my gangsta hat on that day. I do not think my “yeee” went well with the fans tho, as well as the varsity rugby team. Just pray that i don’t get beat up tmmr >.<.

Anyways this leads me to another point. Only like 40 people showed up for the varsity rugby game, and that includes people from Trinity College. Even less for varsity lax. Now its understandable that not a lot of fans show up for games that are away from school, but these were home games, also advertised home games. We had posters up and we probably spent a solid week of filming and editing the MAY DAY video. What ever happened to school pride? Even some people on the board didn’t seem to care. We were supposed to take turns mcing and playing music the whole day, that way i would of been able to watch the varsity badminton game, but no one showed up, so it was pretty much just me for most of the day and Brendan who stayed there all day. One of the stewards was supposed to bring chips and pop to sell since ARAMARK wouldn’t let us have a BBQ, but then he forgot about it. Somthing as important as refreshments for fans and he forgot it! Even though this May Day had a much better turn out than last year, it was still pathetic. The facebook event said we were supposed to get about 280 ppl who were attending with another 113 who were sent on maybe. Instead we get like 30 ppl come up and say where’s the food? What ever happened to school pride. At least we know A-Day would be better than this. But still, over the years i’ve been noticing the attendance at A-Day has been going down. One of the guys I talked to, and you all know him, AND HE KNOWS WHO HE IS, said to give him a reason to go to A-Day. Supporting your school isn’t enough? I for one am proud to go to UCC, and always has been. UCC is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me, even if i get crappy marks, I know I’m still smarter than the average bear. UCC is what taught me how to be determined, and how to stick through the thick and thin. It was a UCC old boy who taught me how to be the best candiate for an interview. I look at all the successful old boys and what they are doing for the world and economy and i can’t help but feel a sense of pride. Why is it that people don’t care about their school anymore? Not just at UCC but everywhere. Something as important as boarding being taken away just for the creation of a middle school and what we get is just a rise out of assembly. Yet out of those 800 or so students, probably only 20 maybe even less than that, actually goes on to e-mail the admin, the board of governors, or even that task force to complain and give out their view. I listened to the task force meetings, and i noticed one thing. All of the past alumni who complain have graduated over 10 maybe 15 years ago. The only people i heard who have graduated recently and are part of the fight is Vicar, who is pretty much the leader of the fight on Fbook, and Cianflowne, who’s still fighting strong. Bené doesn’t even talk to the students about the boarding crisis, and hes the only current student representative to the boarding task force for us. From what I’ve seen, he doesn’t do jack shit. But what amazes me is the fact that people can make fun of it. The amount of day boys who don’t care, who won’t even give there name and e-mail just to get a petition signed to keep an important tradition at our school to keep going. School pride has been completely lost among these people and I do not understand why. Don’t tell me that UCC makes us work hard and because of that we should hate it. Other private schools work soo much harder than us. Its just because we have the IB which makes us do an extra 3 major projects (EE, World lit, group 4) which weren’t as bad as we thought it would be, and the portfolios for math, science, and econ which is pretty much all the projects we have to do for those courses. But that doesn’t mean we work harder. We basically don’t have to do jack shit to get a 90 average. All we need is to get a 6 in every course and boom, 90 average. 6s are not that hard to get, even though i only have one of them. So let me explain to you what a 6 is. A 6 is a minimum mark of 83, or by the end of the year an 80, however because it is the “IB” we get an automatic extra 10% added so in turns into a 93 for the Ontario diploma. The actual work we do in the IB is probably the same as the public schools except for the higher level stuff which go at a much faster pace, but even still I would think its probably just 10% harder than the AP courses, but we get the extra 10% at the end of the year and most of the higher level courses are banded so its still easier to get a good mark, needing only a 70 to get a 6 instead of the usual 83.  So don’t give me that crap because our school makes us work hard. Don’t take me wrong, I love the school, and especially the IB. I feel after the EE that i can write anything, and the extra stuff we learn from the IB makes me feel so much more prepared for university. How is it that people can not just take off a few hours from their weekend to go support their school? I’ll admit, that i never went to May Day before, but I almost always went to A-Day except for last year and grade 9 ever since the prep.  Why is it that people don’t care anymore.

But yes now that that little schpeal is over, back to the story of my day.

After i finished MCing we played brawl for 5 and a half hours. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. gg.

GG?

FIRST POST I WIN! lawl.

So, in order to stop myself from doing my chem rab I have created a blog. Here I shall post things that I find interesting, and write stuff about my life.

SO HERE IS THE STORY OF MY DAY

Today I got to school at 12:15 in hopes of finishing the remainder of the May Day video. Instead I end up washing half a car and holding up a sign for an hour and a half yelling “GET YOUR CAR WASHED! WE USE CHINESE CHILD LABOUR!” Of course it was the UCC/BSS boarder car wash for charity. But why was I, a day boy, working at the boarder carwash? Well when I first arrived at the school all was well and good, the sun was shining, Mike was spraying water on people’s pants with a hose and as I made my way to the front of the school so I could get in there were children playing soccer on the field. But as I sent my foot into the basement of the school, I was surrounded by darkness. I felt my way along the wall so I could make my way to the main hallway, with the only light coming from the barred windows of the locker rooms the school seemed more like a jail then an educational institution. I wondered to myself why the lights weren’t coming on, and it turns out that the power was out. So I made my way up the stairs to the creativity centre were there were children running around all over the place. It turns out that it was Denstedt’s girlfriend’s son’s birthday party. Now for some reason one of the kids decided to come over and kick my shin, I dunno if it was the gangster 76ers hat, the really crappy street vendor sunglasses, or the lavender shirt I was wearing, maybe it was a combination of the three but that is beside the point. Even as a child, who the fuck would kick a total stranger’s shin? Like honestly! WTF? But yes, as I made my way up to the art lab I found Mr. Musselman, Karim, Peter and some Y2 inside sitting around doing nothing. The reason? Because they couldn’t access the college film room. If you are unfamiliar with the art computer lab I shall explain the layout. Inside there are 4 groups of tables each group consisting of 6 Macs. Along the wall there are like 5 different rooms each of which are locked with there own card security system. The College Film room is one of these 5 but guess what? Its card access thing is not working. Now might think that hey, the power’s out, of course its not working. Well it just so happens that every other frigging card scanny thing in the school is working EXCEPT FOR THAT ROOM. So I went back to the outside and started washing cars and yelling at drivers who would not turn into the UCC campus.

The end.

PRETTY AWESOME STORY NO? lawl this is why I didn’t make a wordpress before. In the end we got into the room at around 3 and finished up the part wif me at about 5 so yea. GOOD TIMES.
